Use of this work
Terms
Picture of the Day for Roku is a screensaver. These terms keep the photographs available to watch on your television, and they say what this brochure site does with a note you choose to leave.
Watching
You are welcome to install the screensaver, set it on your Roku device, and sit with the photographs. It is meant to be restful. There is no account on this website, no advertising on the screensaver, and nothing you must buy from us in order to look. The Roku Streaming Store shows whether the screensaver is free to get or offered at a price. That purchase, if there is one, is between you and Roku.
The screensaver does not appear as a tile on the Roku home screen. Roku keeps screensavers under Settings, Theme, Screensavers. Any remote key exits it. That behavior belongs to the device.
Where the photographs come from
The stills are the Picture of the Day collection, the same work published at pictureoftheday.flyingriver.com. Each photograph is the work of the photographer named with it. Some images may include AI assistance, or may be AI generated in whole or in part. Where that is relevant, the photograph’s page on the Picture of the Day website includes an AI generation assessment.
The screensaver reads the public feed. It does not ask you to sign in, and it does not upload anything from your home.
Authorship and copyright
Copyright in each image belongs to the photographer. Nothing on this site, and nothing about installing the screensaver, transfers ownership. Titles, descriptions, and other writing are offered for reading, not as a grant of rights beyond what is stated here.
Watching is the use
Playing the screensaver on a Roku device you use is the use these photographs are offered for. Personal enjoyment on that television is welcome. Do not pull the image files out of the feed or the cache to reuse them, and do not present the images as your own.
Other use
Non-commercial use of an image, beyond watching it in the screensaver, needs industry-standard attribution: name the photographer, and link to the Picture of the Day website or to the photograph’s page where it is practical. Education and editorial illustration that is not sold and not used to promote a business fall in this category.
Commercial use requires industry-standard permission and license fees. That includes advertising, product packaging, paid publications, stock substitution, training data, and any use that supports a business or a paid product. Contact the photographer named on the photograph before using an image that way.
This website
This site is a brochure for the screensaver. Its design and software are provided as they are. Do not scrape the screenshots as a substitute for a license.
Roku’s own terms govern the device, the Streaming Store, and your Roku account. We do not operate the Roku platform.
Notes you leave here
Comments, feedback, and feature requests are queued. A note is published on this site only after an administrator approves it, unless you take the email path below. We may decline a note, or remove one later, when it is abusive, unrelated, or private information that should not sit in public.
An email address is optional. If you leave one, we send a confirmation to that address. When you confirm you received it, the note is published without waiting for review. The same address lets the developers write to you directly, by email, instead of replying on this site. We do not sell the address, and we do not use it for a mailing list. The screensaver itself never asks for an email.
The mailbox for this site is configured by the operator. If a confirmation cannot be sent, the note stays in the review queue and is not published on its own.
As it is
The screensaver and this website are provided as they are. Photographs depend on the feed being reachable. A network interruption should fall back to pictures already saved on the device, but we do not promise an uninterrupted picture.
